Privacy policy for BedsideHarbor
Who we are
BedsideHarbor is made by kadosh3, llc. ShalomHarbor is our brand for apps like it. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean kadosh3, llc.
What we collect
Only what’s needed to run your subscription. We never see what BedsideHarbor sees or hears, who uses it, or when it alerts.
- Your purchase. You subscribe through Apple’s App Store, and Apple handles the payment. We don’t receive your name, email address or payment details.
- Your subscription status. We use RevenueCat, a subscription service, to check whether your household’s subscription is active. BedsideHarbor sends RevenueCat your purchase receipt and a random household ID. Every device in your household shares the same ID, so one subscription covers them all. The ID isn’t linked to your name or email, and nothing else about you or the people you care for goes with it. RevenueCat’s own privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
When you email us
If you write to info@shalomharbor.com, we get your email address and what you send. In the app’s Settings › Household, Copy support details copies your app versions (each monitor is numbered, not named) and your Support ID, for you to paste into an email. Depending on your mail app, Email info@shalomharbor.com may fill in the same details for you. Neither includes anyone’s name, and you can edit or delete any of it before you send. The Support ID is your household’s random ID, the same one RevenueCat uses, so it lets us find your subscription. We use what you send only to help you, and we don’t share it.
What stays on your devices
Apart from your subscription status, and anything you choose to email us, everything stays on your own devices.
BedsideHarbor runs on two kinds of device: a monitor by the bed, and Control on a caregiver’s iPhone or iPad. They connect only to each other, over your home WiFi. The connection is encrypted with a key that only the devices you pair hold.
- Camera. The monitor looks at the bed to notice when someone sits up. Each picture is analyzed on the monitor and then discarded. Small snapshots go to your Control devices so you can see the room. They aren’t saved. Both kinds of device also use the camera to scan the pairing code.
- Microphone. The monitor uses its microphone only while you have Listen in turned on. The sound goes to your Control device and isn’t recorded.
- Reply messages. If you record a reply message, your Control device uses its microphone to record it, up to 15 seconds, and keeps it in the app’s own storage. When you play it, it goes to your household’s bedside phone, which plays it and doesn’t save it.
- Activity logs. The app keeps logs of what it detected: times, body-position readings, light level and device temperature. They don’t contain pictures or sound. A monitor keeps 7 days of logs and a Control device keeps 14, and older entries are deleted automatically. You can see the logs in the Files app, under On My iPhone (or iPad) › BedsideHarbor.
- Names and settings. The name you give each person being watched, and your settings, are stored on your devices.
- Pairing key. The key that pairs your devices is kept in each device’s Keychain. It moves between devices only when you scan a pairing code.
- Notifications. Alerts are created on your Control device. They don’t go through any server.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: to notice sitting up (monitor) and to scan pairing codes (both).
- Microphone: for Listen in (monitor) and to record reply messages (Control).
- Local network: to connect the monitor and your Control devices on your home WiFi.
Deleting your data
To delete what BedsideHarbor stores on your devices, delete the app from each device. To ask RevenueCat to delete your household’s subscription record, email info@shalomharbor.com. To cancel your subscription, see Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad.
Watching someone else’s room
BedsideHarbor points a camera at a bed. Get the agreement of the person being watched, and of anyone who shares the room. Care facilities, and some states, have their own rules about cameras in residents’ rooms. Check them before you set up a monitor there.
Beta testing through TestFlight
BedsideHarbor’s beta is delivered through Apple’s TestFlight app. If you’re a beta tester, Apple shares some information with us, as described in Apple’s TestFlight terms: your name and email address if we invited you by email, which builds you install, and crash reports and feedback, including screenshots, that you choose to send. Beta builds can also export the app’s activity logs, if you choose to send them to us. We use all of this only to fix and improve BedsideHarbor.
Children
BedsideHarbor isn’t directed at children, and it doesn’t collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
A future version may add features that send more data off your devices, such as alerts that reach you away from home. If one does, we’ll update this policy, and its date, before that version is released.
